Murray Family Farms
We went to the farm! Murray Family Farms is at the base of the Tehachapi mountains, along the 58 freeway East. It takes about 25 minutes to get there, and while there is no admission price, it costs $3 to pick a pumpkin, $1 for the petting zoo, and $5 for a 1/2 hour hay ride. There is a market with fresh produce in the center of the farm. The prices of produce are not worth driving out there for ($2 /lb for apples during apple season?), but the novelty of a farm holds intrigue for preschoolers. The petting zoo had a llama (Jessie's favorite), chickens, goats, and lambs. We did not get to go on the hayride because my kids would sit for a half an hour.We did get to pick a pumpkin and the farm threw in a free gourd for all of us mommies who drove out there. It was a fun morning.
