What inspires you? Since becoming a mommy, God has cultivated a creative side that I had since forgotten about. When I was very young, I loved to draw and paint. When I turned 13, I bought my very first sewing machine from a yard sale. I paid to have it serviced and used it for about a year. Then I found out about sports. Then I found out about boys. Oh, brother. I took a random class here and there- painting, watercoloring, dancing. When Beau and I were dating, we enjoyed taking a pottery class together. I have the best memories of throwing a very ugly coffee mug and then going out onto campus to play frisbee with my beloved for hours.
So Beau inspires me. I have to admit, one of the aims I have in anything creative is to get a head pat from my husband, a "Wow, that's really nice!". He is very sweet to encourage me, allowing me a creative budget even when finances are tight. That in itself is inspiring.
But becoming a mom left me with more initial free time and a desire to do something that I saw as productive- as in, finishing a project that stayed finished. It started with sewing and now I get to try all kinds of projects. Sewing is definitely my first love, though.
And that is why I want to make this dress here! I saw it for the first time today on Strawberry Patches' blog. Suzanne is at Quilt Market and was able to give her readers a sneak peek at what is going to be new in the Patch. I get much inspiration from her store.
I love looking through other mommy blogs, especially the crafty ones. Reading blogs on frugality and childrearing make me feel a bit anxious, but when the blog entries are peppered with whimsical projects, I enjoy reading them so much more.
I can't wait to see what awaits me at Strawberrry Patches in the coming weeks!

We have that pattern in stock. I've seen it made up in so many different fabrics and have loved them all. Can't wait to see what you do with it!
Great to hear...thanks, Suzanne!
I love this post because I have been planning on posting about what inspires me too. And also, I just received my Kyoko pattern in the mail last week. I can't wait to try it out! Although I do have a lot of other projects on my list that I'm trying to finish in the next few months. I'd love to see your finished dress.
