Foster care classes are taking over our lives.

27 hours in one month.

That is a fortune in babysitting.

But we decided to knock out all of the busywork in one month, so that we could enjoy our adoption classes a little more slowly.

We joke that this is like the first and second trimester. Well, not really. My apologies to pregnant readers everywhere. It is nothing like pregnancy in the physical aspect (obviously) but it is very similar with the waiting and planning and waiting.

We had a girl come talk to our class last week about her experiences as a Foster Youth. Tough stuff to hear, and her story was not as bad as others. When asked her advice to us as future foster parents, she looked the questioner in the eye and stated,

"Don't fake it. We know when you are faking it".

I have been chewing on this. It applies to many situations in my life. We will be, God willing, bringing another child into this home for the duration of her youth. I desire that my children, all of them, see that my faith is genuine, that my love for them is genuine, and that my love and respect for their father is genuine. We know when you are faking it. Most people do. That is not a way to live!

Truthfully, those words are the only encouraging or helpful thing to come out of 27 hours of government-run, liberal foster care education. Most of the time, I am consciously restraining myself from shouting out truth to counteract the psycho-babbly lies the teacher feeds us. But then those damn liberals won't let me adopt. The teacher doesn't know any better. It's her job. It just makes me all the more glad that we are there, and in this process. Sheesh.

On a different note, there is a quote I have been wanting to put up for discussion. It is something else that has been running through my head a lot lately. I wanted to know what you think:

"No man ever crawled out from under his wife's criticism to become a better man, no matter how justified the condemnation".

Hmm. Don't ask me why I have been pondering it. Just ponder with me. ;) I will share the speaker of the quote at a later date. because honestly, what post couldn't use a picture of a baby and a bunny?

Oh that quote is so very true. I think the biggest (and goodness knows the hardest) lesson we have to learn as wives is to just keep our bloody mouths shut! :)

I'm so glad you are getting through you classes, even if it is rough! Hang in there!
