Oh, Baby...Time for Real Food

We had a pediatrician visit this past week. Roman is in the 90th percentile for height (not surprising) and the 75th percentile for weight (a bit surprising- have you seen this kid? He's huge!).

The Good Doctor asked when I had started him on solids. I have not even thought about solid food yet- heck, I'm barely eating solid food right now. But I got home and unearthed my food processor. The other two kids had minor skin reactions to wheat when I introduced solids, and a box of organic baby cereal is over $4.00. So I got out my $1.50 bag of organic brown rice and put it in the Cuisinart.
I cooked it, mixed a bit of it with pureed banana and a touch of coconut oil. I ate more of it than Roman did. Yummy.Homemade brown rice cereal takes 15-20 minutes to cook, as opposed to instant wheat flakes. Aren't those flakes a bit creepy? Instant anything makes me wary.

Anyway, Roman actually swallowed a total of 1/2 a bite, but we are on our way!

As we were cleaning up the breakfast mess, I gave Roman my water bottle top to play with. He inadvertently slung it over his shoulder and Jackson proclaimed,

"Hey, look! Roman's going hunting for Woozles!"

And finally, here is my most recent sling...inspired by and gifted to my girlfriend Audra.

See, you have found time to sew!

That baby food sound delicious! My poor kids always just got carrots and stuff. Although it's their own fault for not liking bananas. ;)

I can't believe how big he's getting! He's adorable!

Wow, he's quite a chunk to just be starting solid foods!

And I always found those wheat flakes to be creepy, too. And they dry into cement. How is this good for them, again? I just ground up whole oatmeal in my blender to make cereal for Holly. It was even a nicer color than boxed babyfood oatmeal, which is gray.
